23A - Your Venture's Unfair Strategy

Resources for my venture of a budgeting seminar: 1. My mom  V: she has 20 years of entrepreneurial experience, starting 3 successful businesses and selling one of them. That experience in guiding me and budgeting for all the things school doesn't teach you, the "real life" things, is invaluable. R: the different experiences she's had, such as being a woman-owned businessperson, makes her knowledge and experience very rare. I: each entrepreneurial experience is different for each person, thus unable to copy and recreate. N: there are other resources (people) that could provide similar substitutes, but with my mom being family, the bond we have and could put towards my business would be hard to recreate. 2. My dad V: he has 30 years of experience in the world of entrepreneurship.  He, himself has conducted training seminars in front of 30 people R: he also has a rare set of experiences in entrepreneurship as well as experience in front of crowds that could be ...

21A - Reading Reflection NO. 2

1) What was the general theme or argument of the book? - The general theme from The Art of Social Media  describes the importance of social media in the 21st century and how it can positively affect your business. The book provides an assortment of tips and tricks that can make your social media seem more professional and attractive to your customer or potential employer. In an essence, the book acts as a textbook on how to properly take advantage of social media to build up a business or personal brand. 2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT3003? - I think The Art of Social Media  connects a lot with what I have learned in ENT3003. Entrepreneurship, at its core, is selling a product (tangible or intangible) to customers. One way to do that is through word-of-mouth, which seems to be really effective. Social media has become a very powerful tool in marketing and connecting with customers and 'fans'. In his book, Guy Kawa...

18A Create a Customer Avatar

Because the service I am providing is a workshop on how to budget money successfully, I believe a typical customer would be a college student aged 18-22. Although anyone of any age can take this workshop, I really feel as though the college age range is most suited for this service. For many people, college is the first time where people start becoming more independent: moving away from their parents and hometown, and starting to figure out what life is like as an adult. My customer has a job but also likes to eat food, and spends most of his money on that. He is also an avid video game player, and spends hours on end on his XBOX. He spends all of his paycheck on video games and food and has barely enough money leftover to pay for groceries and rent. He decides it becomes a problem after he realizes that his parents are sick of him asking for extra money to pay for things. This customer avatar wants to learn how to properly budget his money so that once he enters the real world, he won...

15A - Figuring Out Buying Behavior No. 2

UF Freshman - Parker Parker is a freshman who is self-proclaimed awful at trying to budget himself. There are apps that can help with budgeting, but he feels as though an app would not be able to help him with real-time problems that might come up. He also was worried about the price of purchasing the app. If there was to be a workshop/class, he'd rather it be in person but would purchase it online, or wherever it is most convenient. If he could correctly budget himself after purchasing and using my service, he believes it would have been a correct purchase. UF Sophomore - Devin Devin is a sophomore at UF who also needs a little bit of help budgeting. He has heard of other workshops that include help with budgeting, but they are not on campus. He also thinks doing it online would not be as effective as being there in person. As long as he can budget himself after the use of the service, he believes he would have made the right decision; if he couldn't budget himself...

14A - Halfway Reflection

Over the past couple of months, what has really kept me focused on finishing the work was dedication. It ultimately rested on the fact that I knew I had assignments due on Friday's and Tuesday's and to cut out a sliver of my week, maybe one to two hours, and try to finish the assignments. There were a couple of times where I had maybe forgotten or was not motivated to finish some assignments. This isn't such a bad thing, considering we're all human beings and have other things on our plate to worry about and take care of. However, what really pulled me through was the motivation to do better on completing these assignments and simply keep up with the work at hand. I feel like in this way I am really developing a tenacious attitude. Some tips I have for this class would be 1) find out when work is due ahead of time, maybe write it down in a planner 2) cut out an hour or two of your week to get the work done and 3) watch the lectures because they're important for the ...

13A - Reading Reflection No.1

1.  Steve Jobs, Walter Isaacson     1. What surprised you the most? What surprised me the most about Steve Jobs is how he dropped out of Reed college only after a year of attending. It was really interesting to me that he did not graduate college and was still able to create and run one of the biggest and most successful companies in the world. It just goes to show how as long as you have enough dedication, resources, connections and a little bit of luck you can do anything.     2. What about the entrepreneur did you most admire? What I most admired about Steve Jobs was his obsession with simplicity as a brand for Apple. I liked that he realized how science and technology could be intertwined in an artistic fashion that could be neatly tied up. There was a quote by Leonardo DaVinci that Jobs thought represented Apple really well: "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." This was also a great selling factor, as most people really like Apple products b...
